Taking action to better your mental and physical health does not always lead to immediate results - but that does not mean it is not worth acting upon. After all, the work you carry out has a profound impact on your future health and happiness!

With that in mind, here are some steps that you can take to take care of your future self TODAY!
Commit to exercising. Whether you’re struggling to find motivation to lose weight or have noticed that you’ve slipped into a sedentary lifestyle, committing to regular exercise is one of the easiest ways to take care of your future self. This is because it can help you deal with and prevent a wide range of health complaints, from cardiovascular disease to mental health struggles.
Take good care of your hearing. Your hearing or auditory health can also have a profound impact on your health and life. For exmaple, studies suggest that individuals with hearing loss are more likely to experience cognitive decline and conditions such as dementia.
As such, you should make a concentrated effort to take good care of your hearing. Fortunately, there are many ways in which you can achieve this goal, such as by wearing protective earwear when spending time in noisy environments, attending regular audiologist check-ups, and even following a healthy diet. While the latter may seem surprising, there’s a lot of medical evidence to back up the fact that a healthy diet can help you to protect your hearing. You can find more nutritional insights here.
Improve your sleeping habits. According to a recent report, 1 in 5 adults regularly do not get the sleep they need. While this may not seem like a major issue to begin with, poor sleeping habits can affect your long-term health and well-being in more ways than one.
This is because your body ‘heals’ itself when sleeping, which means that a prolonged lack of sleep can leave you vulnerable to a range of health issues and complications. In short, improving your sleeping habits is key to living a longer life.
You can improve your sleeping habits by lowering your caffeine intake (especially later in the day), avoiding using your phone directly before going to sleep, and going to bed/waking up at the same time each day, all of which can have a positive influence on your circadian rhythm.
Take good care of your mental health. Working to actively improve your mental health can change your life in more ways than one. For example, it could leave you feeling a lot more confident in yourself and your abilities, meaning you’re more likely to take risks in your career and achieve great things.
However, mental health struggles do not go away overnight, whether you’re experiencing anxiety or depression. This is something that you’ll have to continue to work on throughout all of the different stages of your life. There are many ways to do so, whether that involves talking with a therapist or mental health professional or developing a self-care routine/.
